Admiration Becomes Destiny
Human beings tend to take on the characteristics of those they admire. That can be a good thing. But it is bad when they come to admire terrorists. In a recent Instagram post, a US student activist group released a threat of violence that sounded just like their heroes in Hamas. It said, “Death to the occupation. Death to Zionism. Death to all collaborators.” At the time of the post, Hamas had just promised to lay down its arms and give up control of the Gaza strip as part of their ceasefire agreement with Israel. They started breaking that agreement as soon as Israeli Defense Forces began to pull back from the area.
